Starcraft II beta extended
June 1, 2010
Gamers can now revel in the new beta version of Starcraft II for a little bit longer. Blizzard, the game's developer, announced on its website on Tuesday that the game will stay available for another week, ending on June 7. Originally, the free beta version was only available until this past Monday.
The announcement is good news for users unable to complete the real-time strategy game by the deadline. The much-anticipated sequel will hit stores on July 27 for those unable to test the beta version. The sequel's involved game play and increased graphics - perfect for users hooking their computers up to high-definition screens, monitors or overhead projectors - will attract large sales audiences for its debut.
Blizzard also announced that another round of beta testing will take place before the final version is released.
The Starcraft series launched in 1998 and has produced games for PCs and Nintendo 64. Outside of the two main-series games, the franchise launched several spin-off titles to appease its fan base.
